Allow ice skates on board a plane?

im going away to europe in 4 days, and im bringing my ice skates with me. they are my prized possesion, and they are worth like $1300. i mean id be devastated if they were lost. so im kind of afraid to put them in my suitcase..? but i need them for practice so i have to bring them. i dont think they will let me keep them in my passenger bag on board the plane, because of the blades though, right?

Allow ice skates on board a plane?
I can see the movie now,

%26quot;Skates on a Plane%26quot;

Where a figure skating terrorist hacks people apart with shiny ice skate blades and is finally subdued by Wesley Snipes or maybe even Bruce Willis.

You will need to check them, you are correct. People check valuable items every day, such as golf clubs, etc.
Reply:if on carry on i dont think so cause they have blades
Reply:People worry too much about losing bags. Besides if they lose your bag, they reimburse you for the contents.
Reply:they are as long as you declare them first and leave them in your luggage, but for safety reasons , check your local airport first...i live in LA and i bought an airsoft gun..i let it in my luggage and declared that i had it..they checked it from stock to muzzle and they had it concealed in the luggage which was moved to the plane before we got on..so, your ice skates will be unaccessible in the belly of the plane, so it should be perfectly fine
Reply:Since the blades can be considered a weapon, you%26#039;ll have to check them in.

Sorry.......

Happy travels!
Reply:Sorry but they will definitly not let you carry those on board with you. Your going to have to check them into your baggage. You could mail them to your house from where you are at now so that they don%26#039;t get lost with your suitcases though. I would try UPS or Fed-Ex so that you can track them.
